Proverbs 25:21 March 15, 2009

Filed under: Laughter and Lessons — Michelle Ferguson @ 9:03 pm

july-2008-349Laughter: As Logan and I were reviewing his Proverbs 25:21 memory verse (which says “If your enemy is hungry, give him food to eat.  If he is thirsty, give him water to drink.”), I asked him what it meant.  He replied matter of factly, “He wants us to feed our enemies and starve our friends!”

Lesson: After regaining my composure, I explained that God knows we are already going to do these things for our friends.  It’s easy to love our friends by sharing a meal with them or caring for them when they are in need.  However, God also knows that we are not as willing to love and care for our enemies, so He has to tell us to do this!  It takes practice to be good at this, but with God’s help we can learn to love our enemies!
