We’ve all heard the phrase “it’s the thought that counts.” But have you ever really taken the time to think that through? Is it really the thought that counts?
If a friend thought about you on your birthday, but never sent a card, would you know she had thought about you? If a family member thought well wishes for you during an illness, but never called, would you know their intensions? If your church family was praying for you, but never shared that with you, would you be encouraged? Thoughts are a good thing if they lead to action. Thoughts without action are pretty worthless. If the Holy Spirit nudges you with a thought, put it into action. Otherwise, how will people know you care?
Proverbs 15:23 says “…a word spoken in due season, how good it is!” Also in 1 John 3:18 we are told to love in “deed and in truth.” If you are praying for someone, tell them! If the Lord puts it on your heart to make a meal for someone, do it! If you hear of a need and can help, step up! If someone deserves a compliment (or even not), be generous! Encourage one another today in word and deed! You may never know how much that will mean.
