Happy Reformation Day! November 2, 2010

Filed under: The Ferguson Family — Michelle Ferguson @ 9:10 pm

As part of my husband’s sermon on Sunday, he encouraged us to celebrate Reformation Day vs. Halloween.  In 1517, Martin Luther began the Protestant Reformation when he nailed his Ninety-Five Theses to the door of Wittenberg Church, thus making Pope Leo X excommunicate him.  This was in order to reform the Roman Catholic church, especially the teaching and sale of indulgences.  My children and I recently read “The Monk Who Shook the World,” which is a very reader-friendly version of Martin Luther’s story.

Anyway, the following are pictures of the children dressed up for “Reformation!”

So sweet!! And I like the idea of Reformation Day instead of Halloween – and that ya’ll read the story of Martin Luther. They’re getting a good education.
