Have you ever wondered about any of these questions: What is life about anyway? Why am I here? What will happen to me when I die?
If so, I am going to share with you the best news you could ever hear. God made us for Himself, and our purpose is to glorify Him. We were made for Heaven, so Earth is our temporary home. When we die, our souls live on forever, either in heaven or in hell. I am going to tell you how you can go to heaven.
The Bible tells us that eternal life with Jesus is a free gift. “The gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord” (Romans 6:23). It is not earned or deserved, meaning no amount of good works on our part will get us a place in heaven because “it is by grace you are saved through faith…it is the gift of God, not of works” (Ephesians 2:8,9).
We are all sinners. “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23). Sin is all the bad things we think and say and do, hurting God. We would have to be as perfect as God to get into Heaven, but since we’ve already established that fact that we are sinners, obviously we are not perfect. “Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father in Heaven in perfect” (Matthew 5:48). No one can save himself with such a high standard.
God is merciful and does not want to punish us. “God is love” (1John 4:8). At the same time, God is just and must punish sin. “He will by no means clear the guilty” (Exodus 34:7). Therefore we have a big problem…God loves us, but must punish our sins. He solved this problem for us in Jesus Christ. Jesus is God’s One and Only Son who came to earth, lived a sinless life, and died on the cross to pay the penalty of our sins. He rose from the grave to purchase a place for us in Heaven. “All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the Lord hath laid on Him (Jesus) the iniquity (sin) of us all” (Isaiah 53:6). Jesus took our sin upon Himself on the cross and now offers the free gift of eternal life by faith. Saving faith is trusting in Jesus alone for eternal life, resting on Him alone and what He did on the cross rather than what you or I have done, to get us into heaven. Acts 16:31 says “Believe (trust) on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you shall be saved.”
To review how to receive eternal life:
1. Transfer your trust from yourself and what you have been doing to what Christ has done on the cross.
2. Accept Christ as your Savior by opening your heart and inviting Him in through prayer. A sample prayer might be as follows: “Dear Lord Jesus, I know I am a sinner, but I believe You died on the cross and took the punishment of my sins and rose from the grave to purchase a place in heaven for me. Please come into my heart, take control my life, forgive me of my sins, and save me.”
3. Receive Jesus as Lord and give him control of your life.
4. Repent and be willing to turn from anything that is not pleasing to Him.
“He who believes on Me will have everlasting life” (John 6:47). So, Let’s Be Real. What do you have to lose? Pray this prayer today and start really living! If you have any questions or need further help, please contact me through the comments.
